My monk was the monk my main character that had well over 3 million in items/armors/skills capped/etc.. warrior, ele, ranger all had about 2 mill each invested...

As in your post on GWonline, i too have screenshots of my character idling in the guildhall while they took everything off my account and even laughed and bragged to my guildmates about them doing it just for the fact they could. and even with these screenshots sent in by multiple people from my guild/aliance (in different aliance now), sadly there was nothing that i could do to get those characters back.

Its heartbreaking to know how much you work for something that you want and something that you invest so much time into to have taken from you. All i can say is please dont give up[. when u give up they truly win as they have taken your spirit. while yes its hard to start over, a month later i have almost rebuilt my account (granted not to the point of where it was) to where i have similar items, while not as rare serve the same purpose, and settles on a less expensive armor for now than fow. i have all my chars back, some redone from female to male for a change, and back to being able to compete in gvg with them as per my choosing.

i can tell that you loved playing your account and your character and i can relate to how you feel as per what happened to you, just dont give up. If its what you want, then youll get it back, just going to take a little time and patience and a few good friends to help ya along the way. if im not in gvg, ill be more than glad to help ya in any way i can for map exploring, missions, etc... just message me in game

Again, sorry for your loss
heh. truly sorry about that. it's always sad to hear things like this happening.
i lost items myself. a lot, without even mentioning it on forums because it's been clear since day 1 that trying to have those back was a lost cause.
restoring items would be dangerous, people would start exploiting it duping weapons and ectos, ruining the game economy on the long term.
items i lost could be easily valued about 1200-1400 ectos (tho probably falling a lot with old skins deflaction caused by nightfall).

i'd be interesting anyway in knowing a couple of things about account log-in screens... as i tried to type intentionaly wrong passwords in my 2nd account. after many many wrong passwords entered i was still able to keep trying. no warning message, nothing. seriously there are not security measures that... let's say, lock an account after a someone enters a wrong password for like 5-10 times in a row? am i the only one that finds this a little strange?

edit: going on entered over 50 wrong passwords and this is all i'm having. i'm allowed to keep trying for a whole night. try it yourself. that should make u all feel safer and well protected

You'll all free to support or not support the OP, but making the claim that the OP should "get a life" is rather silly, especially considering you all are taking the time to post on a gaming forum. If you're going to argue about anything, use facts, not personal attacks.

whao, this does come as a shock to me. If anyone deserves their char back, it's guinevere, one of the nicest/most loyal persons in GW imo.

Good luck guinevere, maybe you still know me, I provided you with some golds for your wisdom title, RIP

I don't know what you hope to acheive here. You've gone through the proper channels, they've told you no. I really don't think whining about it on the forum is going to shame them into doing what you want or change their minds. Yes, it really stinks you lost all that work but instead of spending so much energy on what is probably a useless campaign, you could start working on earning all your titles back. I'm sorry this happened to you but at some point you just really need to move on.

You wont get them back its gone, id concentrate on how they got into your account in the first place. Realistically they arnt going to brute force your password and probably havent found some server exploits.

Your pc is probably trojaned and they could be watching your every move and logging every password you enter.

Time to download an antivirus i think !

Ouch sry to hear that. I enjoyed watching your mesmer titles through the forums. I deleted my mesmer with FOW so i could get the survivor title. Just cause i love mesmers so much Was going to try and catch up with u but now it doesnt matter. Same thing happened to a friend of mine Gir like 3 months ago, he just joined your guild a little while ago also. My password and e-mail are not anything i use at all for my main. I changed everything because of this account stealing stuff.

A-net should do something about this, maybe if we get this to like 300 posts they will notice it is a big problem.

After re-making my mesmer for the 3rd time and salvaging a set of FOW. If this happened to me i would rage in a heartbeat. Its the time u put into it with your character.

Just like say if somebody key-ed my car after the work I put into it. Your going to be pissed off doesnt matter if its a game or not.

I hope everything works out for u.

post it one more time please i'm not sure i undestood yet what u're willing to say.
i'm paranoid about security. i can safely state that my system was and is completely clean. The paranoid i have made me even quit using a wireless connection months ago returning to my old good fiber/cable. that wireless was crypted, needed a password to connect and the router was allowed to send/received data only to my specific mac-addressed usb key.
that's how much i'm paranoid about security. i format my driver twice a month and perform a full scan for viruses/trojans/spywares/whatever everytime i turn on and turn off my box.
I've never seen someone more paranoid then me about this.

I support Guin, but with one caveat : as long as he didnt contribute to his own account's demise.

If this can be blamed with near certainty that it's ANET's fault for poor security, Guinevere should certainly have their character restored, at least in achievements. Any other action ANET takes puts ALL of us in the same jeopardy, for a crisis of ANET's own making.

Damn, that must really suck to lose all that stuff and all your time. It's a shame that theres little chance to get your stuff back. I know what it feels like to get stuff stolen, 2 nights ago I got jumped for my cellphone, and 200$ cash. I hope you find out who did this to you, though.

As much as it saddens me to see this happen to anyone who plays this game I do not think it is a justified reason to restore anything on your account. Unless you have proof that it was in no way your fault that your account was hacked. Seeing as the person deleted your main character only that narrows it down to someone who has seen you showing off. Not in game persay but perhaps on the forums. I'm not saying you can't show off but in this case it seems to have bit you in the butt. Like it has been said before if they decided to rollback your character they would have to do it for everyone. You're no different then everyone else, just because you have more time put into one character does not mean that you should be put above anyone else. I'm sorry that this happened to you but you do not deserve a rollback anymore then the next person with a legit hacking.

If the loss was not Guinevere's fault and was, in fact, due to poor security, why shouldn't Anet give back what's being asked?

I understand that Anet can't make it a habit to restore people's accounts for whatever reason they ask but if the fault was not the person's, but rather Anet's or PlayNC's incredibly lacking security and Anet knows that and recognizes that, I think they should allow these certain few people to be "special cases" and restore what they're asking for.

However, what I think doesn't matter. Anet most likely will not restore anything, despite the fact that it happened because of a fault in their security.

Default A good way to vent anger?

My account had been hacked and my characters were all deleted, I wasn't quite as mad as some would expect from something like that, with 5000 hours spent(some afk) on my Necro and FoW I took my anger elsewhere.

How else to vent your anger other than restarting and kicking the crap outa some monsters that had nothing to do with it.

Yes yes, I see many people cry and whine about being hacked, guess what? It's life, ANet isn't going to bend over backwards for a few people and I realised that. And believe me.. it isn't that bad to start over from the beginning actually it's quite fun, some of you should try it ^_~

That was my random Hacked rant that some of you could benefit from.

Is it wise to have a secondary account ready just in case your main one gets hacked?

Ouch, that sucks. Was your case the same as those folks who had their accounts stolen because of PlayNC? You know, where they recieve numerous emails telling them someone attempted to reset their account? If it was, then anet is at least partially at fault. Just another thought, does your guild and/or alliance have forums? Are they secure (not some makeshift forum with nothing that can be called security) and do you have any information there they might have used to hack your account? Not trying to imply anything but sometimes your friends could be your worst enemy. For all you know, it might be someone you know who actually hacked you.

I know how you feel. My old Warrior, Capitan Sparrow, was the leetest guy around. Then he got deleted. It wasn't me, I didn't get hacked, I just logged on one day and he was replaced with some PvP premade build. I went through the same thing you did, denying that a new character wouldn't cut it, but I made a new character (Ghostly Sparrow) and he's way cool. But if anet is brining back deleted characters, those deleted by the fault of anet should definately be brought back first.
